Pontymeddyg Opening Day

Pontymeddyg Opening Day

10 August 2015 by Gethin ap Dafydd

On a sunny afternoon in late July, over 30 of Jimmy & Dilys’ friends and family attended the grand opening of their new cider house with barrels of their Panacea perry, Doctors Orders dry cider and Pandemig sweet cider on offer for the celebration (and very nice they were too!).

There originally stood an outbuilding (a milking parlour for the smallholding at one time) at the cider house site but it was decided it would be more work to repair the old building than to start from scratch, so a shiny new building was to be built. It took a while to build but I think you’ll agree that it was worth the wait. It’s wooden-cladded exterior really does look the business in the middle of the Pembrokeshire countryside.

Jimmy & Dilys won’t have far to transport the apples from their newly planted orchard to the new cider house as there’s only a single gate separating the two! All the guests gathered outside the cider house (with glasses filled with cider) whilst Jimmy gave us all a brief talk about the new building, followed Dilys’ cutting of the ribbon, then a grand tour!

A fantastic day was had by all and celebrations carried on until very late!

Well done Jimmy & Dilys!
